Aaron (SJ18-10)

An original 36″x36″ oil painting I created in 2018.

Inspired by Elvis, the painting displays bright colors and markings on a bold character’s face, depicting cultural markings and lines from some faraway fantasy society or tribe.

Paint In Progress

These images show the progress of how this painting came together.

  • I started with a black outline, followed by several layers of oil paint.
  • Several layers of color add depth and shape.
  • Finally I painted in the details, highlights, and shading.

I’ve been very interested in mosaic patterns and waves of color.
