I started watching Heroes when it first aired and immediately liked it. I’m a sucker for superhero stuff and the idea of so-called “regular people” discovering powers was interesting to me. However, somewhere along the way Heroes lost it. I was underwhelmed by the end of Season 1 and Season 2 was pretty abysmal. Now we’re deep into Season 3 and I’m amazed at how terrible it has become. I’m sure I will keep watching due to the faintest optimism that things will get better. But from what I’ve heard, Heroes may be headed toward sudden death.

Here are 6 reasons Heroes has gotten beyond ridiculous in it’s 3rd season:

6. Peter is an idiot – He’s time-travelling, messing things up, losing his powers, getting thrown out of windows. Does he have any use except to scowl and say things like “Listen to me! You’ve got to get out of here!”? He’s wasting space and his character is not developing at all, yet he dominates almost every episode.

5. Nikki’s endless twin sisters – A character dies at the end of Season 1 but she’s a hot babe. “How do we bring her back? I know… she has another twin!” A twin created in a lab and given powers artificially. Sure. Whatever.

4. Arthur Petrelli is behind it all – It’s very convenient to say that Nathan and Peter’s dad is the real mastermind behind everything that has happened so far. Next season are they going to make up another person who is the real mastermind behind HIM? What difference do these stories make if there is always some new person who is REALLY the mastermind? It feels forced and too easy.

3. Nathan’s religion – So he makes some lame born-again speech about God and all-of-a-sudden everything is good again? Huh? And he seemed to drop it almost as fast as he picked it up. Now what’s he doing? I have no f*cking idea. Who knows why he’s doing anything anymore. Isn’t he a senator or something? And the Linderman hallucinations? Really stupid.

2. Sylar is a super-duper nice guy – They spend 2 seasons making this guy out to be the epitome of evil and then they throw all that out the window and make him a poor misunderstood teddy bear. Geez. And now he’s Peter and Nathan’s brother!? Really!!?? What’s next, Hiro is really Angela’s son too? And speaking of flipping characters, now Suresh is a monster? Add it to the “really stupid” list.

1. Hiro turns into a 10 year old – WTF!? Seriously, what the f*ck!? Hiro and Ando have been useless and annoying all season, starting with doing the one thing his father said not to do and getting the formula piece stolen immediately. Then the whole “Ando is going to kill me thing” and “Let’s join the villians.” And now just when you thought they couldn’t get MORE annoying, Hiro is turned into a 10 year old and is learning his powers all over again. Why!!??

The executive producers just got fired and it sounds like the creator, Tim Kring, has no clue what to do next. This show is headed down the toilet pretty damn quick. Can they pull it out at the last minute? Based on the consistent downwrd direction the show has taken since Season 1, not likely.

UPDATE: 2 more episodes later, still very lame. Sylar is evil, he’s good, he’s evil, he’s good – who even cares any more? Hiro is a goof. The comic book store? More total BS plot contrivances. Eclipse takes powers away, but they come back, and it’s suppose to mean what? Its getting really hard to care. Seriously.
