Seattle, Nov 9, 6:35 am. Music playing - “Leaving Hope” NIN
There is a store in Ballard called Archie Mcphee’s that sells all kinds of odd and interesting stuff. It’s not for everyone but it can be a lot of fun if that’s what you’re into. There was a place in Chicago called Uncle Fun which was very similar. I got a Jesus light keychain and [...]
Last Saturday I gallivanted over to another Seattle coffee shop called Victrola. I went to the one on 15th in Capitol Hill. Coffee was good and I played Scrabble with a friend. Not a bad way to spend an evening at all.

“Dude, don’t you ever smile?”
Sam in Seattle 10: Caffe Vita
By: samnation on: Aug 16,2008 In: Sam in SeattleAnother Saturday and here I am in a new cafe. This one is called Caffe Vita in Fremont. I have had their coffee before at work where someone had brought in a pound or two. I am not too picky about my coffee. I like it, I drink it, no muss, no fuss. So in [...]
Sam in Seattle 9: Garage
By: samnation on: Aug 14,2008 In: Sam in SeattlePhoto by Rob. It’s an interesting phenomena that happens where people all go out together to be social and wind up spending a big chunk of their time txt’ing and checking email on these happy devices. Maybe life is easier to handle through a digital buffer zone. However, meatspace has cocktails!
Sam in Seattle 8: Verite
By: samnation on: Aug 3,2008 In: Sam in SeattleAnother weekend, another Seattle cafe. This time I went to Verite in Ballard. Free wireless is of course what brought me in, that is essential. But I wasn’t so crazy about this cafe. It was very loud and crowded. I think that was mostly due to the cupcakes they were selling, which I guess are [...]
Sam in Seattle 7: Vivace
By: samnation on: Jul 19,2008 In: Sam in SeattleI go where the free wireless grows. Once again I am in Vivace. However this time I am at the location on Yale Ave since the one I was in last week has been shut down to make way for a train station. This one is a little more polished and new, less wood tables [...]
Sam in Seattle 6: Vivace
By: samnation on: Jul 13,2008 In: Sam in SeattleVivace is supposed to be the best coffee in Seattle, a town famous for it’s coffee. The location I am in today is being torn down and moved up the street somewhere. Today is the last day it’s open. I’m sitting at the window bar looking out over the park next door. It’s a beautiful [...]
Sam in Seattle 5: Starbucks
By: samnation on: Jun 5,2008 In: Sam in SeattleThis is the very first Starbucks ever. It is store #1 and it was opened in 1971, which makes it as old as I am. What was once a single coffee shop in the fish market district of Seattle has grown to be a ubiquitous brand that saturates the urban landscape all over the world. [...]
Sam in Seattle 3: Space Needle
By: samnation on: Jun 1,2008 In: Sam in SeattleI like this shot because it looks like this woman and I are posing for the cover of our emo album. Like we’re a band called Everything But The Earl making moody music about how love sucks.
